Configuring the data sources
There are two different types of data sources for the loop data: historical and real-time data sources. You will have already selected the type of data source to use when configuring the Action Object. Now continue with configuring your selected data source properties.
NOTE: Scheduled Process+ Action Objects can read data from either real-time or historical sources. Ad hoc Process+ Action Objects read data from only historical sources, as they require immediate access to already present loop data.

The configuration properties of the data sources will differ according to the data source (selected during configuration of the Action Object). As a general guideline:
-
Select the server where the data is stored.
-
Click [Next] to check the runnability of the Action Object.
Editing the data source properties
While it is possible to edit the data source properties, some properties should not be edited, and some properties should be edited within a defined framework of possibilities. Certain changes could lead to an invalid configuration, which can only be communicated to you after the runnability check.
The following properties must be configured as described:
Real-time data sources:
-
Sampling period: leave as imported from the data source, do not edit
-
Import options: must always be "Use latest data available"
-
Execution mode: For Optimized Database: leave as "Real-time"
Historical data sources:
-
Sampling mode: For Proficy Historian: the mode can be edited, but should never be "Raw by time"
-
Sampling period: leave as imported from the data source, do not edit
-
Import options: should always be: use only data in this time window
-
Imported data: For PI Historian, never use "Use raw values"
Runnability
The runnability of the Action Object will be checked.
-
Errors will be listed if applicable.
-
Click [Previous] to return to the configuration wizard and correct the listed errors.
-
If the Action Object is runnable, then an Action Object will be generated.
-
The scheduled Process+ Action Object will then populate the list of deployed Action Objects.
